Welcome!!! Here is some information about the HSV Pickleball Ladders which take place on Thursday Evening and Friday Morning.
Q1 - What is a pickleball ladder?
A1 – It is a group who play at the same time each week and are then paired up with folks who have similar abilities. Folks are assigned to a court based on their DUPR rating (I’ll explain this later). Then they play one game with each of the other 3 or 4 folks on their court.
Q2 – Do you play the same people every week?
A2 – Sometimes but it depends who signs up and whether you are winning or losing? If you win a bunch, your DUPR rating goes up so you’ll move up the ladder and vice versa. The ladder is a great way to meet new folks.
Q3 – When do they play?
A3 –One is Thursday Evening ladder (6:30pm) and the other is Friday Morning (9:00am).
Q4 – This sounds competitive, how good do I have to be to join?
A4 – It’s pretty laid back. As long as you know the general rules and basic scoring, you’ll be fine. You are welcome to stop by either ladder and judge for yourself.
Q5 – I won’t be able to make it every week because I have other commitments?
A5 – No problem. Each ladder has about 40 to 50 folks on their roster and an average of 20 sign-up each week.
Q6 – How does the weekly sign-up work?
A6 – The Ladder Coordinators (Thursday is Steve and Friday is Beth) send out an email to their group early in the week and request those who are interested to respond via email. One day before the event, they send an email saying who signed up and state if they have openings for others to sign up. In other words, some Friday ladder folks may want to also play on Thursday so they sign up.
Q7 – OK, I’m interested, what do I need to do?
A7 – Here the 6 Steps…
Steve Bylow – Thursday Evening (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Beth Mielke - Friday Morning (email@example.com)
